Coronation Street actress Lucy Fallon – who plays the role of Bethany Platt in the longstanding ITV soap – has recently enjoyed her first ever pole dancing fitness class.
Lucy posed for a photograph with her long legs stretched out vertically along a pole during the workout, which took place at Blackpool’s Kelly Amelia Fitness School.
The 22-year-old actress – who has been at the centre of a string of gripping storylines on the programme – shared a photograph of her in action on her Instagram account, which she captioned: “LOVED my first pole fitness class at @kellyameliafitness today!”

How many calories can you burn from pole dancing?
According to iGym personal trainer and fitness guru Emily Flynn, pole dancing is the new fitness trend that achieves very impressive results.
Emily has stated just one hour class can burn up to 300 calories, although results depend on the individual and can vary from each participant.
Speaking exclusively to OK! Online, she said: “Depending on the individual, pole dancing can burn anything from 250 to 350 calories based on a one hour class.”
What are the health benefits of pole dancing?
Fitness expert, Emily Flynn, has stated pole dancing has a positive effect on the body.
She explained: “Using the principals of control, breath and precision – which is the basis of Pilates – pole dancing really works the core muscles. Pole dancing also engages the upper and lower body, so it really is an effective workout.”
Emily believes pole dancing also has a major impact on the person’s mentality and confidence, as not only does it release endorphins but leaves the participant feeling empowered.
She added: “Pole dancing very popular with females, often empowering them.”
What exercise is pole dancing the equivalent to?
While pole dancing is a form of dance class and acrobatics, it also is comparable to strength training, pilates and a cardiovascular work out.
Emily Flynn said: “At the end of the day it is a form of dance and Pilates training compliments most, if not all forms of dancing, including pole dancing.
“As the exercise becomes more dynamic with more flowing movement, participants can even benefit from a cardio work out too.
“Pole dancing also engages the upper and lower body.”
What are the dangers of pole dancing?
Fitness professional, Emily Flynn, has revealed there are a number of benefits from including pole dancing into your fitness regime.
As long as the individual undertaking the session has no preexisting injuries, there are no dangers.
She said: “Health wise, as long as the individual has no preexisting injuries or conditions, one can really benefit from improved posture, muscle tone and full body strength. Pole dancing does require upper body strength so those with wrist injuries however mild should steer clear unless advised otherwise.
“In recent years the taboo has been removed and re-marketed, making pole dancing very popular with females, often empowering them. Whilst we did have the typical gym scene overshadowed by big burly men, pole dancing has given women their space and platform to develop their fitness.
“However, participants must start with the basics before gradually progressing, under the supervision of qualified professionals.”
